  • CCHMC Imaging Research Center

  • The Imaging Research Center (IRC) was established in 1993 to support clinical and basic science research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM). While it is a core facility within Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation (CCRF), its faculty consists of members of the Radiology Department. The IRC offers a unique opportunity with respect to collaborative effort between researchers in the IRC and basic and clinical researchers within the institution conducting research relating to childhood diseases and developmental disorders. The IRC faculty balances their own externally funded research with that of the core functions of the IRC. As a core facility, the IRC provides advanced imaging and image post-processing techniques for basic and clinical research at CCHMC, CCRF, UCCOM to advance the research goals of both institutions. As a research center, the IRC faculty conducts original research in new methods and applications of nuclear magnetic resonance and other diagnostic imaging modalities relating to children and young adults. As a resource center, the IRC provides consultation and access to state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging techniques on a collaborative basis and as a training center the IRC faculty educate and train researchers, clinicians, fellows and students in the use of diagnostic imaging technologies in biomedical research.
